Management Today: The changing roles of modern leaders

August 29, 2024

The role of the modern-day leader is vastly different today compared to a decade ago, according to Phil Brakewell, VP of executive search at WilsonHCG.

In a Management Today article, Brakewell said: “Soft skills like resilience, flexibility, adaptability, and communication have, and always will be, sought after in leaders."

However, today’s leaders are asked to do more, often with less time, and must be ready to change course at a moment’s notice.

This has proven to be true over the last few years due to disruptive macroeconomic and inflationary pressures, global and social unrest, and obviously, the pandemic.

“We now live in a much more instant, dynamic, and fast-paced world and organisational leadership is reflecting this,” he concluded.
