HR Daily Advisor: Skills-based hiring is the future of talent acquisition

September 3, 2024

Skills-based hiring is the future of talent acquisition, according to Alicia O’Brien, SVP of innovation & customer success at WilsonHCG.

In an article she wrote for HR Daily Advisor, O’Brien said: “Ultimately, skills-based hiring isn’t just about finding the right people — it’s about fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.”

Whether it’s upskilling (adding new skills to an existing repertoire) or reskilling (acquiring entirely new skills for a different role), a culture of continuous learning can help your workforce stay agile and better navigate industry shifts.

O’Brien also explained how skills-based hiring furthers diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) by evaluating people based on skills and skills potential rather than education.
